Senior Psychologist Advocates for The Use of Local Language in Teaching School Children

Senior Psychologist, Professor Joseph Osafo has advocated the use of Ghanaian languages for teaching and learning in schools.

According to him, school children better understand what they are taught when their teachers teach in their dialect.

He called on the Ministry of Education to incorporate the local languages as a compulsory subject.

Speaking on Peace FM’s morning show “Kokrokoo”, the Head of Psychology at the University of Ghana emphasized that “if we are teaching our children in our own language, then they can appreciate concept”.

To him, it is not late for the education institutions to promote the speaking of local languages.

“It’s not easy but it doesn’t mean it cannot work,” he stressed.
