CSO Lauds Abia Govt On Disability Commission

 

The Advocacy for Disability Act Cluster (ADAC) has commended the Abia State government on the establishment of the  state’s disability commission.

The CSO said May 9, 2023 birthed a new dawn for the disability community in Abia State as Governor Okezie  Ikpeazu kept his words made on February 7 during the advocacy visit paid him by the organisation.

A statement issued by the executive director-Inclusive Friends Association and ADAC Cluster Anchor, Grace Jerry, said the date advocated to the governor on the establishment of the commission to ensure full implementation of the disability law signed by the governor October 2022 had been actualised.

“The governor committed to establish the disability commission before the end of his tenure.

“On Tuesday May 9, 2023, the Abia Disability Commission saw the light of the day, enlisting the state among the inclusive states in the country.

“Advocacy for Disability Act Cluster rejoices with the community of persons with disability over the establishment of the commission in the state and especially the executive director El-New Hope Foundation who is the cluster member of ADAC in Abia State upon his appointment as the chairman,” the statement said.
